I have been working with Les for years. He built my son a custom SPG 1911 - his first handgun - and he put a tremendous amount of care into it. He has restored or serviced several of my historic 1911 and 1911A1 models, and he has appraised others. I've also acquired new Dan Wesson 1911s through him and Les has tuned them his way. Les gets a 5-star rating from me for his honesty, skill and solid commitment to customer service. What more could you ask for?

Thanks so much for everything Les. I really appreciate all the info and I love the gun you built. I couldn’t be happier with it. You did an amazing job. All the best to you and yours.

SPG actually improved on perfection. My Springfield TRP was already great shooter; Les made it a nail driver, on par with the $3000+ customs. I would match my upgraded 1911 against a Wilson Combat, Les Bear, Ed Brown, Nighthawk, any day of the week!
I'm gonna bring Les my AR10 soon to work his magic. The Best, period!

I can't say enough great things about Sheaffer Precision Gunworks! Les does outstanding work specializing in 1911's and truly cares about his customers. I've been using Les for several years now, traveling 3 hours round trip and it's well worth the drive. Looking forward to many more years. Thanks, Larry

Hi Les, Your 1911 Owners class was truly outstanding!!! I totally enjoyed it and the day, and believe I learned a lot. The handout book is great, and it will be a valuable reference and resource for the future. Thank you for your effort and hard work in pulling all of that information together and presenting it to us so well and concisely in the few hours we had in the classroom. Among other things... I certainly would never have had the nerve to remove the firing pin and extractor for a really thorough cleaning of the gun without what I learned and then did in your class. The afternoon session at the range was excellent too. I found that my general operation of the gun and accuracy too improved noticeably almost with each magazine fired... and we sure put a lot of lead down range!! I worked hard on my grip and stance, and also my trigger control, and believe I achieved major improvements in both. It just confirms once again that there is no substitute for practice... practice.... and then more practice. I plan to do a lot of dry firing at home until the proper grip and trigger squeeze become more or less routine and I don’t have to think about it each time. Also, as we discussed, perhaps dry firing will help make the trigger operation a little more smooth as the parts wear in a bit more. Anyway.... it can’t hurt plus it’s fun, right? So thank you again, for a great class and a thoroughly enjoyable day. It was great seeing you again... and talking guns and doing some shooting!! See you again at the next Oaks.

Hi Les, we just returned from the range with the AR you built. We shot 200 and 300 yds today for the first time, attached are 2 examples of 200 yard groups. We shot a steel target, and made head shots (4” square at 300 yards) and never missed. It was a fun afternoon and now my son and I are already thinking about a bolt gun from you.

Les, WOW!, took the CZ to the range today. You are right. I like this almost as much as my 1911's. Only 50 rounds, but it operated flawlessly, I didn't even clean and lube like I usually do with new guns. Great feel in the hand, very natural aim and shoot. Didn't have to "force" aim it. Made me look better than I am.

I met Les at the Oaks Gun Show. I could tell by speaking to him how passionate he is fabricating and tuning firearms. His Signature Series 1911's are the smoothest and best looking handgun I ever seen. The trigger pull was incredible. Thank you Les.

Les tuned two of my 1911's, and they both shoot much better than they ever did out of the box! He certainly knows his way around firearms. Les is personable, reasonable, and conscientious; I give SPG an A+.

Yesterday and today I completed Carbine 103 with Jared Ross at Rockwell Tactical. I always thought the AR you built for me was great, but it took the drills in this class to fully appreciate it. You did some nice work on that for sure.

I have been a customer of Sheafer Precision Gunworks for many years. Les's gunsmith work is unequaled and only surpassed by his knowledge and can do attitude. I didn’t think my opinion could get any higher of him or his work, but this weekend I was pleasantly surprised.
I signed up for a class on how to clean and maintain my 1911 hand gun. And a class that was guaranteed to improve my shooting accuracy. I’m 64 years old and have been shooting and cleaning my firearms since I was 9. His teaching ability and knowledge of the subject was flawless. He taught me several things about cleaning my hand gun that either I wasn’t doing correctly and a couple of things I do that I shouldn’t do. Then he started the 2nd part on shooting accuracy and how to zero your handgun. I was amazed at what I was able to do just beginning that part of the class. By the end of the Level 1 and 2 class, my gun cleaning technique had been perfected and my shooting accuracy had improved by at least 200%. I would recommend this class to any and everyone that has a 1911 handgun. As far as his skill as a gunsmith, you can’t beat him in repairs, modifications or customization of any firearm. There is none better. Thanks Les.

"Shot the 1911 today for the 1st time. Absolutley love it. Took it slow as I get used to it but already it is my favorite pistol. I am excited and looking forward to your classes. Thanks again for everything, I have been telling everyone about you. "
